My team and I designed Mosaiic for our client Dream Unlimited and their upcoming developments in Quayside, a waterfront district in Toronto, Ontario. This community will be home to many young adults of mixed income and diverse backgrounds, our goal was to connect these new residents through community and a sense of belonging.

OVERVIEW

How can Dream Unlimited encourage a sense of community in Quayside, Toronto?

Working as a team of 5 product designers, we set out to define a clear project vision over the course of 16 weeks.

THE PROBLEM

A low-cost platform for community meetups and skill sharing hosted in local Quayside spaces.

REFLECTION

Key Takeaways

It was a great experience working with a team of hardworking individuals throughout the semester. Mosaiic was a project driven by research, passion and curiosity. I am grateful for the knowledge I gained in regards to working with peers, clients and designing for communties.

Collaboration makes the difference

Working as a team allowed us to have many constructive discussions regarding the existing and potential components of our concept. Sharing our contrasting perspectives and working through them together strengthened the product, ensuring each step of the service had intention.

Well-developed services are rich in detail

Designing a service required our team to be critical of each feature and deeply understand how they may interact. It is incredibly valuable to build and recognize the entire service ecosystem. While components of a service may be strong, they are rendered useless if they support a seamless user flow.
